After a breakout scoring season with Lakeland Community College, combo-guard Jaidon Lipscomb committed to FIU men’s basketball on June 2, 2023, via JucoRecruiting on Twitter.
Lipscomb, the 6-5, 176 pound versatile guard, served his teams on both ends of the floor, finishing his 2022-2023 campaign averaging 23.3 points, 6.6 rebounds, 3.8 assists and 1.3 steals per game.
Not only does Lipscomb stuff the stat-sheet, he does it all with ease and efficiency, shooting 51.5% from the field and 38.9% from three. Those percentages don’t come at a low volume of shots, as he averaged over six three-point attempts per game.
In the 2021-2022 season, Lipscomb shot 41.2% from long distance on a slightly lower volume of attempts, proving to be an elite shooter whenever he is on the floor. That is not to discount the 15.1 points per game he contributed, proving to be a consistent scorer in multiple seasons.
While most of the attention remains on his offense, Lipscomb has been a consistent defender over the past two seasons, maintaining career averages of 1.4 steals and 0.4 blocks.
Joining an FIU team that is full of new faces, Lipscomb is sure to provide energy on both ends of the ball. In the past six months, the Panthers have received a total of four new players through the transfer portal.
Adding yet another tall, lanky, two-way guard shows the identity that the Panthers are trying to build. They look to play fast, smart and keep a consistent level of high-motor play.
