The College of Law held a ribbon-cutting ceremony dedicated to the new student lounge in the Rafael Diaz-Balart Hall on Jan. 10.
In recognition of the vital role played by the College of Law within the university and the consistent achievements of FIU Law students, the Student Government Association took proactive steps.
Executive Order 4-07, signed by SGA president Alexander Sutton, was issued to specifically authorize and facilitate the creation of the new student lounge within the RDB Hall. According to Executive Order 4-07 $34,400 was authorized to be expended for furniture purchase, based on “the policy of the Student Government Association to prioritize and invest in the revitalization of student spaces, in accordance with Executive Order 02-001.”
Dean Antony Page warmly welcomed the students to the new semester, congratulating them on their accomplishments thus far, and encouraging them to continue their pursuit of legal excellence.
Page expressed his heartfelt gratitude for SGA’s commitment to enhancing student spaces and emphasized the positive impact it will have on the law student community.
This acknowledgment underscored the collaborative efforts that made this project possible.
Christopher Carbot, assistant dean for Administration and Strategic Initiatives, also delivered a speech during the ceremony. He commended the students for their hard work and dedication and expressed his confidence in their ability to excel in their studies. Carbot’s speech highlighted the administrative vision and strategic initiatives shaping the College of Law’s future.
