On May 6 FIU students were welcomed back to campus for the summer semester, and what better way to kick off the new semester than making a summer playlist.
Music is a great way to bring people together and find community. Finding music that fits your liking can be difficult at times, however when you do you’ll be met with one of the most enriching feelings.
Here are some songs that are worth giving a listen to this summer:
1. Stars By Hum
If you enjoy fuzzy 90’s alternative rock songs this song’s for you.
“Stars” is one of Hum’s most acclaimed songs to date, and it’s sure to be an earworm.
2. No One Noticed by The Marias
The Marías – No One Noticed (Visualizer)
“No One Noticed” is the 11th song on The Maria’s up and coming album to be released on May 24. The song has a very beautiful soft and melancholic melody that makes you excited to see what’s to come in Submarine. They also announced that they will be playing two shows at The Fillmore Miami Beach at Jackie Gleason Theatre on July 27 and 28.
3. The Bug by Crumb
Crumb – The Bug [Official Video]
Speaking of new albums, on May 17 Crumb is set to release AMAMA.
The Bug, the third song on AMAMA, is one of the best of the four songs released ahead.
The fresh Neo-Psychedelia melodies with Lila Ramani’s soft vocals is sure to be one of the things that will always keep you coming back to Crumb.
4. July by HUNNY
Everytime July rolls around one has o play ‘July’ by HUNNY. ‘July’ is the third track on HUNNY’s Noise Pop EP, Pain / Ache / Loving, and there is no song more fitting for this list than this one.
5. August by flipturn
flipturn – August (Official Music Video)
While on the topic of songs named after months, flipturn, local to Florida, released ‘August’ back in 2018, and it’s one of their best songs to date.
The band is coming down to South Florida to play a show on July 16 with Two Door Cinema Club.
And though one might be craving to cool off in the summer heat, don’t let it be an excuse to avoid hearing some fantastically fire jams.
