Summer is officially here at FIU! With the semester well on its way, here are some June events to keep in mind as you visit campus.
Garnishes & Glassware: Join the Wine Guild in BBC to learn about different garnishes and glassware at the Wine Spectator Restaurant Management Lab in room HM 129. The event is Tuesday, June 4 at 5:30 p.m. and there is an option to attend via Zoom.
Nova Star Competition Show: To begin celebrations for Juneteenth, FIU is hosting its third annual Nova Star Juneteenth Scholarship Competition Show from 6:30 p.m. to 10 p.m. on Wednesday, June 12 at the Wertheim Performing Arts Center.
Show your support for the contestants starting with the pre-show at 5:30 p.m., where you can enjoy live music, refreshments from the Bartender’s Guild and more!
There will be free shuttle bus transportation between MMC and BBC.
Tertulia Nights: Come visit artist Carolina Cueva at Tertulia Nights, a monthly event hosted by the Frost Art Museum that sparks creative discussions with local artists.
Taking place on Thursday, June 13 at 6 p.m., Cueva discusses her art in connection to her Peruvian upbringing and immigration to the United States.
Food and refreshments will be provided by Half Moon Empanadas and Tripping Animals Brewing.
Panther Social 2: The Latin American Dance Club hosts another social on Friday, June 14 at 4 p.m. in the Graham Center pit. There will be salsa and more until 8 p.m.
Freedom Day Celebration: On Juneteenth, FIU is hosting their fourth annual Juneteenth Freedom Day Celebration at the Earlene and Albert Dotson Pavillion Lawn near the MARC building starting at 1 p.m.
There will be live performances, local artisan vendors, food trucks and more! Lawn chairs and mats are welcome.
BSO Summer Celebration: Also taking place on June 15 is Bangladesh Student Organization’s Summer Celebration, starting at 5 p.m. in the Graham Center Ballroom. The event celebrates Bangladesh’s culture and festivities with cultural food and more!.
100 Days Rodeo: To wrap up the month of June, the Homecoming Council will be celebrating 100 days to homecoming in the Housing Quad on Wednesday, June 26 at 5 p.m. Visit for free food, giveaways, activities and a chance to ride a mechanical bull!
