The summer semester has come to a close, and the campus is getting ready for the fall semester to start.

But just because classes have paused doesn’t mean that the fun’s over! Here are some activities to look forward to in August!

Panther Block Party: An afternoon of music, food, drinks, giveaways, special appearances, and so much more. This event is family friendly, has delicious food, an open bar, and widespread networking opportunities. All proceeds from the Block Party will support the Alumni Relations Office operations and programs. The event will take place on August 10th at 3 p.m. at Monty’s in Coconut Grove. Make sure to buy a ticket!

FIU Men’s Soccer Games: The FIU men’s soccer team has a number of home games in August, the first being with FGCU on August 13, the second game against Barry on August 19, and the third against Seton Hall on August 22. All games will take place at 7 p.m. in the FIU Soccer Stadium. Make sure to show up to show your support! Go Panthers!

Welcome Back Social: Kick off the school year right at the Wine Spectator Restaurant Management Lab (HM 129), where the Bartenders, Coffee, and Wine will host a mixer at 4:30 p.m., and a meeting at 5:30. The event will be on August 27, and a zoom option is available for those who cannot attend in person.

Viernes de Musicalia, Flamenca Rumba and Guajiras: An illustrated lecture by dancer Clarita Filgueiras on the development of Cuban rumba and guajira music, as well as their relation to Spanish flamenco. This event will take place on August 30 at 7:30 p.m. in GL 220.

Housing Fair: Join the Healthy Living Program, in conjunction with Student Health and Wellness and Housing for one of the biggest events to start the academic year, and help close our August. The event will have giveaways, music, food, and good times. It will take place on August 30th at 12 p.m. in the Tamiami Promenade.

Let’s start the year off strong, panthers!
