Donald Trump is weird – I can’t wait to vote for brat

Last year, I saw Kamala Harris speak at FIU and I wasn’t particularly impressed – the event was disorganized and her answers were a bit anemic. But now, watching her as she’s set to be the presumptive nominee for the Democrats, I can’t lie, maybe she is brat after all.

President Joe Biden’s decision to drop out has been met with surprisingly little fanfare in the weeks after, much like Donald Trump’s assassination attempt, which I’m sure you only now just remembered happened.

Now, the focus is all on Harris and I can confidently say I couldn’t be happier.

As a young voter, this is the first time in forever I’ve felt excited about a candidate running for our nation’s highest office.

Despite being maybe one of eight people in the world who liked Hillary Clinton and one of the three people in the world who still likes Biden, neither of them were candidates people could rally behind with much enthusiasm.

But Harris represents a turn for the Democrats. She’s comparatively young and has been the subject of at this point thousands of viral memes and clips on the internet, which if the last decade or so of politics has proven, is a far better way to boost likability and engagement than any ads or rallies ever could.

She’s been touring quietly in the background, sharpening her rhetoric and tacitly proving to the rest of the party that she is indeed capable of campaigning and signaling to voters she cares.

And she does. On abortion she might not have the supermajority in the Senate necessary to pass a bill codifying Roe v. Wade but she would be able to stymie any further attacks on women by the GOP.

If you think I’m exaggerating about these further attacks, J.D. Vance, Trump’s vice president pick, said “every day George Soros sends 747 to Columbus to load up disproportionately Black women to get them to go have abortions in California.”

Speaking of Vance, he proudly endorses Project 2025, a conservative think-tank written plan that aims to fire thousands of government officials, turn the President into a dictator, dismantle the Department of Education, cut taxes on the rich and have abortion access stripped away nationally.

This guy is Trump’s choice for vice president?

Harris has also been a dissenter in the Biden Administration’s stance on Gaza, privately discussing with Biden and his cabinet that they need to take a stronger stance on Netanyahu’s government.

Meanwhile, Trump has publicly bragged about getting Roe overturned by way of his Supreme Court picks and keeps calling people ‘Palestinians’ as a pejorative. Not to mention his previous plans for peace in the Middle East that wouldn’t even involve giving Palestinians a full-fledged state.

Harris has taken the lead on voter rights and protecting democracy, speaking extensively on how she wishes to combat voter suppression, especially among minority communities.

Meanwhile, Trump tried to overturn the 2020 election with fake electorates, pressured election officials in Georgia to ‘find’ 11,780 votes and recently told a crowd of supporters “they won’t have to vote anymore” if he’s elected in November.

Trump also claims Harris is anti-Semitic…which is just confusing at this point, considering she’s married to a Jewish man. Could it be that Trump might be suffering from some cognitive decline? He did say Hannibal Lecter was a real person, after all.

He also endorsed Mike Pence’s execution by his supporters, who as you would expect, has not endorsed Trump for president.

The Republican Party is a little weird, and very dangerous. Thankfully, we have a candidate that espouses reason and decency. I didn’t believe it before, but maybe I did in fact fall out of a coconut tree.
