“What was once a passion has turned into a job that I no longer find joy in,” Peterson wrote.
“Additionally, I feel that I am not suited for the politics that accompany the sport.”
Peterson then writes that he’s focusing on getting his Master’s degree and pursuing a career in sports psychology.
Peterson was ranked a 3-star prospect by 24/7 Sports out of high school. In 2023, he had his best statistical season, starting all 12 games and finishing with 104 tackles, the 10th most in the team’s history.
The star linebacker’s departure comes days before FIU’s matchup against Central Michigan at home.
This is a developing story. This post will be updated when more details become available.
