The 2024 fall semester has officially begun!
As classes start picking up the pace, here are some September events to help get into the FIU community spirit.
Honors Night @ FIU Women’s Soccer: Join the Honors College in supporting the FIU women’s soccer team at the FIU Soccer Stadium on Thursday, Sept. 12.
The team will play against Southeast Missouri State from 7 p.m. to 8:30 p.m.
Honor students can attend this event for Honors College Week credit if they take a selfie with the scoreboard and email it to hcengage@fiu.edu.
Ganesh Chaturthi: Celebrate Ganesh Chaturthi with the Hindu Students Council on Friday, Sept. 13!
With the festival commemorating the birth of a Hindu god, learn about Indian religious culture in GC 140 from 4 p.m. to 7 p.m. Dinner will be provided.
Mid-Autumn Festival: On Monday, Sept. 16 from 4 p.m. to 6 p.m., join the FIU Chinese Club for the 2024 Mid-Autumn Festival. Enjoy free food, games, giveaways and performances at the GC Pit!
KCC & KLEC Chuseok Banquet: The Korean Culture Club and the Korean Language Empowerment Club host their annual Chuseok Banquet on Wednesday, Sept. 18.
The Chuseok Banquet, which highlights a 3-day South Korean festival where friends and family give thanks, will be in GC 118 from 5 p.m. to 9 p.m.
Learn more about Chuseok through tabling activities, Chuseok-related trivia and games, performances and Korean cuisine!
FIU Panthers vs Monmouth Hawks Football Game: Cheer on the FIU Panthers football team as they challenge the Monmouth Hawks on Saturday, Sept. 21.
Taking place at the newly-christened Pitbull Stadium, kickoff is 6 p.m. while the Homecoming King and Queen are crowned at halftime.
Students will receive a complimentary entrance to the football game by using their FIU One Card. Tickets are now available for purchase through game day!
Garnishes and Glassware: Join the Wine Guild in BBC to learn about different garnishes and glassware at the Wine Spectator Restaurant Management Lab in HM 129.
The event is Tuesday, Sept. 24 at 4:30 p.m., and there is an option to attend via Zoom.
Honors College Week: Honors Football Night: The FIU Panthers face Louisiana Tech at the Honors College’s annual Football Night on Saturday, Sept. 28 from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m.
Honors students are encouraged to wear their Honors College t-shirt and participate in the halftime Honors College picture on the field to celebrate the end of Honors Week.
