Breaking: FIU shuts down campuses from 5 p.m. Tuesday to Thursday ahead of Hurricane Milton

FIU has announced in an email that all campuses will be closed starting 5 p.m. Tuesday through Wednesday in anticipation of Hurricane Milton’s landfall. Classes, including online, have been canceled as well.

Milton strengthened from a Category 2 to a Category 5 hurricane and is expected to hit Florida’s west coast as a Category 3 on Wednesday.

The university states in the email to “look for an announcement by Wednesday evening regarding university operations on Thursday.”

Update: An email was sent out on Oct. 8 at 4:38 p.m. informing students that FIU will also be closed on Thursday, Oct. 10.
