After a chaotic month of hurricanes, the school of music brings a refreshing taste of festival spirit to pave the way, featuring Herbert and Nicole Wertheim School of Music, here’s a list of events to keep an eye out for.
Coming up, on Oct. 19 at 3:00 p.m, the FIU Concert Choir presents their first performance of the year with “A Soul’s Journey: Songs of Life, Love, and Spirit.”
Presenting pieces like Christopher Harris’s “I Am Loved,” Skip Stradtman’s “Psalm 91,” and “El Sonido Dulce En Tu Vida” by Orlando Jacinto Garcia and many more.
Following on Oct. 25 at 7:30 p.m, the Habana Sax brings the vibrant spirit of Cuban culture with their distinctive style of mambo, cha-cha-chá, salsa, and more with rich textures of Latin and pure jazz.
On Oct. 26 at 7:30 p.m, former violinist of the 9-time Grammy winning Lawrence Dutton and cellist Clive Greensmith, former legendary Tokyo Quartet, join together to perform masterful pieces like String Quintet in C Major and Verklärte Nacht, a must for any classical music lover.
To end things off, on Oct. 27 at 3:00 p.m, Ryan Chan, a multi-award-winning artist with performances spanning from the U.S. and Europe will be performing at the FIU Herbert and Nicole Wertheim Performing Arts Center, showcasing his solid technique and creativity in registering orchestral textures.
