November events: get into the Thanksgiving spirit at FIU

Thanksgiving at FIU is right around the corner, with each club putting their own spin on the holiday festivities.

Celebrate Thanksgiving with your university family with these events!

Greeksgiving: As part of their transition of officers, the Greek councils will be hosting a seminar with some food to celebrate on Monday, Nov. 18 in the Graham Center Ballrooms. RVSP is necessary!

PridesGiving: On Tuesday, Nov. 19, Pride Student Union, Pride Center, and PFLAG Miami will be hosting a “PridesGiving” dinner for those connecting with their found family.

Taking place at 6:30 p.m. at GC 243, a full meal will be served and will include vegan and gluten-free options. 

There will also be a discussion circle with Indigenous community members as part of a collaboration with FIU’s Office of Global Indigenous Forum. 

Girlsgiving: Join the Pakistani Student Association for a special Girls’ Thanksgiving celebration on Thursday, Nov. 21 at 4:30 p.m in AHC4 room 101. 

Create friendship bracelets to celebrate the beauty of community and the spirit of Thanksgiving. 

This event is open to everyone, whether you’re a member of the PSA or simply looking to connect with new friends. 

Japanese Autumn Festival: Also on Thursday, Nov. 21, is the Autumn Festival hosted by the Japan Club. 

This event is at 6 p.m. in GC 243. There will be Japanese themed food, games, cultural booths, prizes and more!

Traditional Chinese Food Night: The Sino-US Language and Culture Salon is hosting a traditional Chinese food night on Friday, Nov. 22, to promote different cultural delicacies.

Taking place in GC 273A at 4 p.m., students would learn about typical Chinese dishes and their origins, along with commonly confused food from other Asian cultures. 

Some of the dishes discussed will also be provided at the event.

Thanksgiving Potluck: Come to the Geek Culture Club’s yearly Thanksgiving potluck on Friday, Nov. 22, at 6 p.m.

In the spirit of community, share a meal with friends and peers while watching movies until 10 p.m. in GC 150.
