Hosted by the Geek Culture Club, the Koneko club was a refreshing break after finals week, with multiple fun activities including Kahoot, board games like Monopoly, Uno, and Four Souls, a Smash Bros Ultimate tournament, and a costume competition on Dec. 13.

Multiple cosplayers came for the cosplay competition, including but not limited to cosplays like “Mario”, “Pompompurin”, and the “Spy” from Team Fortress 2.

The event also had vendors who sold their own products like anime figures, posters, and stickers. Some featuring some popular anime like Blue Lock, Spy x Family, Demon Slayer, and Chainsaw Man.

Katherine Benitez, Vice President of the Geek Culture Club and hospitality major, states the goal of this event.

“We wanted to entertain and help people destress from finals, we also saw it as a way to see people for the last time, since the semester is ending.”

Students had a blast trying out the board games like Four Souls, a card game based on a popular game called The Binding of Isaac. The objective is to collect four souls to win by defeating monsters in the game.

Denise Mendoza, President of the Geek Culture Club and biology major, talked about the goal and tradition of this event.

“Again, it’s to relieve stress from finals, but we also do this every semester. Actually, this would be our 11th year of doing this event specifically.”

Rocco Ortiz, a computer science student and sophomore, shared their thoughts about the event.

“I say my favorite part about this event would be the people and meeting everyone. The cosplay performances were also pretty cool.”
