On December 28th, 2024, FIU Police arrested Alexander Stone, former SGA Speaker of the Senate, for sending a written threat to kill via Snapchat group chat. He subsequently resigned from his position in SGA following the arrest.

Stone was reported to FIU Police after messaging a group chat on Snapchat an image of him holding a hunting rifle captioned, “lol omw to assassinate [redacted],” according to official FIU PD reports.

After hearing his Miranda rights, Stone admitted responsibility to committing the 2nd degree felony, defining them as “true threats”.

“Many people within Senate were surprised to see that Stone resigned. SGA seemed like a very important part of his campus life. To see him relinquish the position was unexpected,” said Senator Kassandra Toussaint in a statement.

This is a developing story. More updates will be given as new information is released.
