The Panthers faced the Gators on Saturday at 11 a.m. in Gainesville.
The matchup was a test for FIU as they aimed to extend their winning streak against one of the top-ranked teams in the country.
The FIU was riding high after a dominant 4-0 sweep against the University of Miami and was eager to keep the momentum going.
Against the Canes, Valery Gynina and Ekaterina Khairutdinova dominated in doubles while Petja Drame defeated her opponent in straight sets, 6-3, 6-3.
Currently ranked No. 80 in NCAA singles, Khairutdinova secured a hard-fought victory in her singles matchup.
Meanwhile, 52nd-ranked Oyinlomo Quadre faced off against No. 70 Raquel Gonzalez in an intense battle.
After splitting the first two sets, the third set was left unfinished, tied at 3-3.
Against the Gators, Ekaterina Khairutdinova dominated in singles against Carly Briggs (UF) and Oyinlomo Quadre won over Emily de Oliveira (UF).
However, the Panthers did not find much success on the day going 2-4 in singles against the top-ranked Gators.
The team will look to bounce back against UCF on February 2, 2025.
