The FIU women’s tennis team couldn’t overcome No. 20 UCF, falling 4-1 in a challenging road match.
With the defeat in Orlando, FIU drops to 2-2 on the season, while the Knights remain undefeated.
Both Oyinlomo Quadre and Valery Gynina lost their singles matches 6-2, 6-2.
Anja Draskovic also fell in straight sets, 7-6, 6-0, while Petja Drame’s match was unfinished.
Katerina Mandelikova was a bright spot for the Panthers, securing the team’s only victory with a dominant performance in straight sets, 6-4, 6-1.
The win marked her first singles victory of the 2025 season, providing a positive takeaway for FIU despite the tough overall result.
The Panthers will look to bounce back in their first home match of the season against the University of North Florida on Friday, Feb. 21.
FIU will need to step up its game to stay on top in Conference USA as it aims for a third straight conference title.
