“No sleep, bus, club, another club, another club, another club.”
Many students who attended the Organization Fair can relate to this quote by Lady Gaga, especially regarding the number of clubs tabling at the event.
The Organization Fair, hosted by Student Experiences and the Registered Student Organizations Council, took place in the GC Pit on Tuesday, Jan. 28. This event is a great way for clubs and organizations to establish connections with students.
“I joined this club when they were tabling. I was happy to meet them and find out that there was a Japan Club at FIU. Right when I became a student, I started coming to all of the events and last semester I joined the e-board,” said Pedro Correa, the Social Media Manager of Japan Club.
Students, like Correa, often learn about clubs for the first time at this event. Some of the over 15 organizations present were the Geek Culture Club, Association for Information Systems, Turning Point USA, and many more.
The event was free to all students and offered food and goods. Before meeting with the organizations, students signed into the event and received a card to obtain eight organization signatures. RSOC merch and food catered by Subway were promised upon the return of the card.

Each organization had its own table where they offered information about the organization, upcoming events, free goods, and methods of joining.
Carlos Cardenas, Treasurer for the Society of Physics Students and Sigma Pi Sigma, and Valeria Robles, Secretary for the Society of Physics Students and Sigma Pi Sigma, offer PantherNow insight on why events like this are vital.
“A huge portion of what we like to do in the club is outreach and we want to make sure that people know that physics is not just for a certain type of person. Physics is for everybody and is meant to be fun. That is why we also offer different tutoring to try and make sure that people know that there is more community in physics. Between the last few semesters, we have really been going hard on trying to build the physics community and build relationships between students.”

Community is key to these organizations and each one is a place where any student is welcomed and encouraged to join. These organizations are mostly student-run and adhere to the needs of students.
“This was my first time attending this event and I was so shocked by the amount of organizations that were tabling. I felt as though there was something for everyone and every organization had so many unique perks and aspects. Currently, I am not a part of any organization, but now I am thinking of joining several,” said Joseph Rodriguez, a second-year computer science student.
The Organization Fair allows these organizations to meet with students who may not have known this organization was at their disposal as FIU students. Students interested in these organizations can find events that they host and join through the organization’s page on PantherConnect.
