The lights are on, with the crowd watching, and where the stage is yours. Welcome to the PGX Pit Takeover, where every move counts.

On Thursday, Mar. 6, the organizations Geek Culture Club, FIU Gamehers, and Panther Esports helped host an event that allowed students to enjoy a moment of fun and excitement. Students were invited to play Just Dance, relax, and learn more about the clubs involved.

With karaoke or Just Dance, students danced to popular songs from different genres, such as pop, dance-pop, country trap, and more.

“We wanted students to have fun, engage, and meet people with similar interests,” said Kaylin Perez, a psychology major and President of Gamehers.

Many students came and went to dance to songs, stop and talk to friends, and learn more about clubs like Gamehers and the special event happening on Saturday, Mar. 8.

“We wanted to get people excited and bring awareness to our event happening on Saturday, the Panther Games Expo 2025,” said Daniel Garcia Smester, computer science major and Volunteer for the event.

“The event on Saturday will be huge, it has special guests, Pokemon Go tours, vendors, retro games, and a cosplay event where the top 3 even get 2 tickets to an otaku fest.”

Among the clubs that helped host the event, a new club was also trying to spread its name.
“Gamehers is a club for female-identifying people who want to find a place in the Esports community, we wanted to create a safe space for women who like to get involved without constant assumptions based on gender,” said Pieria Oquero, a biochemistry major and Officer for Gamehers.
