Last Tuesday, FIU’s Healing Hands club encouraged all students to come and try their hand at bracelet making. The event was an opportunity for members and non-members alike to get to know the club, socialize, and bead to their hearts’ desire.

“We’re a pre-health organization. We help our members be with individuals on the same path, and help them network,” said Thais Montan, the clubs Community Service Director. “Our mission is helping the community around us.”

Healing Hands provides members with real-life experience and volunteering opportunities that give back to the Miami community. They frequently collaborate with different nonprofits and charitable organizations.

“We provide different medical resources and we do CPR certification training,” explained Andrea Lopez, Healing Hands Vice President.

“Our focus is on Miami Community Fridge,” she continued. “We make sandwiches and take them to fridges, actual fridges, in underrepresented communities.”

Healing Hands’ contribution to the community fridges helps prevent food waste and feed thousands of Miami citizens. The club is holding a sandwich-making event to replenish the fridges next Friday, March 28th. All students are welcome to attend.
