Michaelle Valentin is the first Panther to achieve first All-American honors since 2022.

The graduate student from Apopka, Florida, placed eighth nationally in the women’s discus after her throw of 59.67 meters, which was the second-best in her flight and seventh-best in the opening round, helped her reach the final.

Despite this being her best finish yet, it is not the first time she has earned All-American honors.

She reached second team selection in Discus in 2023 and 2024, adding a second team pick in hammer in 2024.

She showed early promise in her freshman year, scoring in both the hammer and discus at the Conference USA Outdoor Championships and continued to improve each season.

During her time at FIU, Valentin performed at a high level at the conference championships, earning six Conference USA medals between 2022 and 2024.

Highlighted by silver in the weight throw at both the 2022 and 2023 indoor championships and a gold medal in the discus at the 2024 Conference USA Outdoor Championships.

During her junior year, she recorded an FIU and Haiti national record in the women’s discus (62.17m) at the USF Invitational.

In a publication by the FIU Track and Field social media, Valentin shared that while she will not be representing FIU anymore, she is now looking forward to representing her country in “the big stage.”
