The FIU women’s soccer team continues its homestand to close out the season as they face Louisiana Tech (4-11-1, 3-3 Conference USA) at Leyva Family Field at FIU Soccer Stadium on Sunday at 1 p.m..
Despite having a losing record against Louisiana Tech, the Panthers were able to win the most recent meeting, a 3-0 victory last season, marking the team’s first win since 2015.
FIU’s 1-0 loss to Sam Houston (7-4-2, 4-1-1 Conference USA) extended its losing streak to three games, leaving the Panthers sixth in CUSA with a 6-5-3 record.
In their last three games, FIU has managed to produce a total of 26 shots, with eight on target, but have only scored two goals as the team has not been able to come up with a win in October.
Against the Bearkats, FIU had 11 shots, but only one on target.

Goalkeeper Valery Restrepo continues to shine with her performance as she recorded seven saves, making this her career and season high, passing her last record of six.
Despite a lackluster offensive performance in the last games, several players are having breakout seasons. Junior Montelene Dymond continues to lead the team with seven goals, followed by Jayden Boelter with four and Chinatsu Kaio with three.
FIU still holds a spot in the CUSA tournament despite their last outings. After showing offensive success earlier this season, FIU will need to reignite the spark to find their rhythm in the final two games of the season before the CUSA tournament starts Nov. 2, in Virginia.
