As the regular season winds down, FIU men’s soccer returns home to host their final home match against Charlotte before American Soccer Championship play begins.
The match is scheduled for Friday, Oct. 24, at 7 p.m. at Leyva Family Field, where FIU will celebrate their Senior Night, recognizing the dedication and leadership of its graduating players.
The Panthers enter the matchup looking to bounce back from a narrow 3-2 defeat against Tulsa.
Senior forward Eduardo Mustre led the attack with two first-half goals, marking his second multi-goal of the season. His consistency in front of the goal has made him one of the season’s most reliable scorers.
Senior Nigel Van Haveren continues to protect the goal. Leading with 43 saves, he’s been a steady presence on post throughout the season. Alongside him, defenders Leonardo Consoloni and Owen Travis bring stability to the backline and assist the team.
FIU sits at 5-7-2 overall and 3-3 in American Athletic Conference play. The Panthers have continued to show resilience, remaining competitive and focused in nearly every match despite recent setbacks. Several losses for the team have come down to one-goal, making them a team that fights for the equalizer until the final whistle.
Charlotte arrives in Miami with an unbeaten record in conference play and a 7-3-2 overall. The 49ers have developed their game with balanced play and disciplined defending, making them a difficult team to break down.
With postseason positions still a priority, the Panthers will look to close out their home schedule with a strong performance and a senior night to remember.
