Following a loss to the Kennesaw State Owls, FIU is looking to get back on track when they travel to face Missouri State on Wednesday, Oct. 29, at 8 p.m.

The Panthers were unable to defend against Kennesaw State’s running game during last week’s game, as the Owls  were able to score 4 TD on the ground.

It was not all bad for FIU as they completed more passes (22) than their opponent and were able to successfully fulfill 15 passing first downs.

The passing game was successful and can be a helpful element in this game against Missouri State. Junior Quarter Back, Keyone Jenkins, was 22-36 for passing attempts last game, and is a total of 127-201 this season.

Jenkins is also second in school history in passing yards gained with a total of 6,226 yards.

Senior Kick returner C’Quan Jnopierre is leading Conference USA with most kickoff return yards with 319 yards.

Jnopierre not only is a kick returner but was able to show his receiver skills on Tuesday’s game against Kennesaw State gaining 64 receiving yards.

In a press conference before the matchup against the Bears, coach Willie Simmons reflected on his team’s performance during their last game, “A lot learned from that film, did a lot of good things, still somethings we gotta clean up.”

The first year head coach also talked about the penalties and how they affect the outcome of games, “love the effort, love the intensity but we gotta play smart. That’s lack of focus, lack of attention to detail, it’s unacceptable.”

Simmons and the Panthers are looking to gain back the momentum against their conference rivals and improve their record, aiming to climb back up in the Conference USA rankings with five games left in the season.
