Reimagining Ideas through Project Exploration (RIPE), FIU’s new arts-inspired club, continues to bring creativity to campus through hands-on art workshops. From ceramics to painting and now jewelry making, RIPE encourages students to explore their artistic side.

The club’s vice president, Mailin Lanza Reyes, and treasurer, Amelia Diaz,  say that’s what makes RIPE unique; its members come from a wide range of academic backgrounds. “It’s a space where students from any major are welcome to express themselves and be creative,” Diaz said.

The jewelry-making workshop provided participants with the opportunity to design personalized accessories while experimenting with beads, wires, and charms. Students were encouraged to experiment freely.

RIPE’s mission extends beyond art-making. The club aims to build community through creativity, encouraging collaboration between students of different disciplines

Next on the club’s calendar is the Painting Lab Coats Workshop on November 14, hosted in collaboration with FIU’s Pre-Health Student Organizations and the Society of Sustainable Souls. The event invites students to personalize their lab coats with color and creativity as they embark on their scientific journeys.

To close out the semester, RIPE will host its first Art Gallery on November 24, featuring sculptures, ceramics, and mixed-media pieces created by members throughout the semester. The showcase will highlight the diversity of talent and expression that RIPE has cultivated since its founding.

RIPE’s upcoming events and growing membership reflect a growing demand for creative spaces on campus. By encouraging students to think beyond their majors, the club is redefining what it means to explore ideas through art.
