TIGER Grant: bringing the University and City together

A U.S. Department of Transportation discretionary grant program, called Transportation Investment Generating Economic Recovery 2013, appropriated $11.4 million to the University on Sept. 5.These funds will develop the pedestrian bridge that will connect the University with Sweetwater, and street improvements two blocks north and south of Southwest Eighth Street, on 109th Avenue.

As students approach the Information and Research Services desk on Green Library’s bustling second floor and make a left, they encounter the latest upgrade to the facilities: The Hub.





Uncertainty as text ban nears

When Assistant Chief of FIU Police Alphonse Ianniello was asked if he saw any texting while driving around campus, he said he personally did not.

However, students said they witness their peers texting and driving often.

“I see people texting and driving all the time on campus,” said Roberto Lopez, junior computer science major.
