To the members of this editorial board, accessibility goes beyond the test scores accepted, beyond the number of students enrolled and extends to the work that goes into making students feel accepted and a part of the community.
Since 1976, the month of February has been recognized as Black History Month in the U.S. With this, a celebration of the most well-known accomplishments of black Americans takes place.
FIU’s status as a commuter school should mean the University has enough parking spaces available to fulfill the need of its community.
We’ll never truly know what King would say about the Black Lives Matter movement, because unfortunately white-nationalism took him away too soon. However, to say he didn’t see color is a gross misconception. To say he believed that black anger should be ignored and invalidated is just plain false.
This editorial board hasn’t always agreed with the policies or procedures of higher education, but we can agree that working with Student Media has shown us the role higher education plays in society.
University life is hard but knowing that there are thousands of dollars of debt just waiting to be paid off is adding extra stress to our students, extra stress that sometimes wasn’t even required in the first place.
Those who have selflessly served in the military are a considerable part of the University’s population – many of them sit alongside us in class.
Despite providing students with resources to be “Worlds Ahead,” and having immense pride in the tagline, the University is #WorldsBehind when it comes to actively hearing and responding to the voices of students and the community.
