FIYOU vs. Access FIU: A critical analysis

This year’s SGA Election has been given plenty of coverage and conversation without much substance, which this editorial board is also responsible for. However, now that much of the pettiness of the elections has drawn to a close, we’d like to take a look at the platforms of the two parties critically.

Friday, March 4, the University sent an email to all students concerning recent allegations of sexual misconduct on the behalf of Head Coach Marlin Chinn. While the email touts the University’s responsibility to students, faculty and staff, the content fails to live up to said responsibility.

Studying for finals is important

FIU also offers resources on campus to assist with tutoring before finals. FIU’s Center for Academic Success provides online tutoring at the click of button at times that are convenient for students.

FIU library hosts black freedom lecture

One in six black men had been incarcerated as of 2001. If current trends continue, one in three black males born today can expect to spend time in prison during his lifetime, according to the National Association for the Advancement of Colored People.

Editorial: The FIU Alert system

Sept. 14 our writers at The Beacon broke the story that there was a man with a foot fetish sniffing women’s feet in the Green Library. The next day, the culprit was arrested by Miami-Dade authorities. Students never received a notification, and only knew about the incident through The Beacon and local news.
