The colosseum was built by Emperor Vespasian, who does what Augustus did back then: gets power by pretending that he has none (manipulating the people). In essence, he built what the people wanted: free games and entertainment for all. In fact, it was a direct way to please the people by giving them a blood sport for free.
I love Rome. My feet are killing me but I still love Rome.
In other news, class starts tomorrow and I’m BEYOND excited!
It was a very interesting day. And, now, we are blasting Ed Sheeran and having some fun at the apartment. So far, I’m loving Rome! But I know I haven’t seen anything yet…

It’s definitely been an adventurous and exciting first day in Rome.
I’ve just landed in Philadelphia for a connecting flight. The good news? It was a great flight and I slept the whole way through (and I had no one next to me so you already know how comfortable I was!). The bad news? Now I have to stay inside the Philly airport for exactly 10 hours until I board for Rome.
