We’ve made it everyone. The end of the semester is almost here.
And that means the most stressful week in a college student’s life is coming up: Finals.
Pots clanging, cars honking, flags waving, people screaming — I can still remember the celebratory sights that filled the streets in Miami when the news came that Fidel Castro, Cuba’s communist dictator, was dead.
It’s amazing how food can help grow relationships, whether it’s to start conversation at a party or to give you time to learn something new about someone.
Our university is like its own city, with a diverse set of members, including veterans, which is why Student Media decided to dedicate this week’s theme pages to our country’s heroes.
If there is one thing Millennials can say we’re experts on, it’s social media. The generation after us, sometimes referred to as Digital Natives or Gen Z, even more so. However, as our access to the digital world continues to increase so does the danger.
We’re lucky to live in a free, democratic society, but, we have to take care of it.
That’s why it’s so important to vote every election, including midterms. Voting is a constitutional right that is sometimes taken for granted, but it’s the most powerful tool we have as American citizens.
Student Media was counting down the days until the University’s 2018 Annual Security and Fire Safety report was released because we knew it would be key to helping us create this week’s theme section.
This year, Student Media is participating in National Disability Employment Awareness Month, a national campaign led by the United States Department of Labor during October that focuses on raising awareness about “disability employment issues and celebrates the many and varied contributions of America’s workers with disabilities,” according to their website.
