FIU’s Gordon Institute of Public Policy, the FIU College of Business, Organization of American States and FIU in DC partnered to coordinate the forum, held on April 6 and 7 and will address cyber threats, how to mitigate them strategically and implement those strategies into organizational structures
The Accelerated Bridge Construction University Transportation Center received another $1.4 million dollar boost from the U.S. Department of Transportation.
The center is the first federally-funded entity focused on developing technology and methods to improve and accelerate the construction of bridges.
New commercial-scale solar panels have been installed at the College of Engineering and Computing by Florida Power & Light Company and the University. According to FIU News, “the only solar research facility of its kind that FPL has installed at a Florida university.”
“The most important thing is that people who want to learn about those topics have the choice to decide where to go to,” said Cartacio. “So when you leave the workshop, we want you to understand at least the basics so that you can evolve.”
Shekhar Bhansali, the Alcatel-Lucent Chair and Professor of Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering at FIU is among the eleven inventors from the Florida State University System elected Fellows of the National Academy of Inventors, as announced via press release from the Florida State Systems Board of Governors.
Campus Maps app includes FIU in its server, helping students find their classes.
The Yik Yak phone app, created just last year by Tyler Droll and Brooks Buffington, combines elements of both Twitter and “geo-fencing” to create an anonymous environment for students to “yak” about school happenings all across campus.
