Wilkenson Myrtil earns first place finish at ‘Canes Twilight Meet

Despite University Texas of El Paso winning overall on the women’s and Western Kentucky University winning it all on the men’s side, five athletes for FIU finished in the top three and earning two bronze medals and three silver medals on Thursday after team finished in ninth overall.
Heberling was impressed by the team’s performance last week’s meet at University of Clemson’s Purple and Orange classic, and felt that they are destined to compete in the big stage.
The Panthers’ track and field team traveled to Clemson, South Carolina on Saturday, Jan. 9, for the Orange and Purple Classic. They showed their dominance throughout the event as eleven total Panthers finished in the top-three and 38 in the top eight.
