Panthers go winless at Stetson Invitational

“We are very loud and have very big hearts for the game,” Boulanger said. “I think that together we care so much that our love for the game just really gave us that will to win and succeed in our games.”
After losing to the Louisiana State University Tigers in its previous event, the University beach volleyball team traveled to Baton Rouge, Louisiana, Saturday, March 12, and Sunday, March 13 for a rematch.
“I saw fierceness and a lot of heart [today]. Yesterday, I saw a lot of fear, and that gets you nowhere,” said Head Coach Rita Buck-Crockett.
Last season, Toghiyani led the team in wins, finishing with a 23-3 record. A similar year can have her sitting alone at the top with the most wins in program history.
“I would like to place first in the nation. I would like to keep our team first in the East Coast. I would like to win all of my games,” Cupp said.
Bethancourt is a native of Guatemala and attended Colegio Interamericano prior to FIU. There she lettered in volleyball for three years and was named the team’s Most Valuable Player in 2013. At 5 foot 9, she is the shortest player on the Panthers; however, she has not let her height affect her style of play.
Coming off its worst season in program history in 2014 when the team finished 7-23, the Panthers bounced back and proved to critics that last season was a fluke.
The Florida International University women’s volleyball team (15-13) ended its season on Friday, Nov. 20, losing to the University of Texas at San Antonio Roadrunners in the first round of the Conference USA Tournament in San Antonio, Texas.
The Panthers are set to face off against the University of Texas at San Antonio Roadrunners, who enter as the second seed. The tournament will take place in San Antonio and begins on Friday, Nov. 20, at 12 p.m.
