A general application for the student newspaper and news site.

• Responsible for hiring and managing a team of photographers, videographers, cartoonists and illustrators.
• Assigns and edit photo/video coverage.
• Work with the Editor-in-Chief to create PantherNOW TV episodes.
• Work with the Production Manager to plan out cover page for weekly Panther Magazine.
• Shoot video assignments for PantherNOW.com, training and setting video/podcast style for PantherNOW.com.
• Make promos for The Roar, our student-run radio station, and manage public service announcements.
• Serve as liaison to radio staff for all audio matters.
• Position requires photo and video-editing experience. Adobe Photoshop, Adobe InDesign, Final Cut Pro and Adobe Premiere familiarity a plus.

• Ensuring the article corresponds with AP style guidelines
• You are required to be available to the demand of the Director
• Uploading stories using WordPress (scheduling stories for publication and reviewing content before posting on site)
• Onboard contributing writers to staff
• Assigning stories to a team of writers relating to FIU related activities (investigative, event based, Student government, etc.)
• Attending required meetings from director .
• Editing articles from staff writers.

• Design compelling and interactive infographics that convey numerical information / data visually (pie charts, bar graphs, etc.)
• Proficiency with Adobe Illustrator and InDesign preferred, but not required.

PantherNOW is building a brand new website using React and Gatsby with WordPress as a backend. We are willing to work with the right individual, the most important thing is a willingness to learn. General experience from computer science education might be all that is needed, for some. Ideally, candidates should have experience with at least 2-3 of the following:

• Linux Command Line
• GIT / Github
• React
• WordPress
• VS Code
• Good organizational and communication skills
• Strong problem solver
