Black Student Union hosted a forum Thursday, Sept. 22, highlighting what it means to be black at The Biscayne Bay Campus.

The FIU community and FIU’s Black Student Union gathered on Wednesday, July 6, to mourn the death of Alton Sterling who died in the hands of police. A vigil was held in the GC pit at FIU’s MMC campus.
Due to recent events involving police officers, the FIU community came together to reflect on the escalation of tragedies taking place all around the world. FIU gathered to reflect on the significant horrors taking place in Turkey and Bangladesh, and also the systemic issues concerning police brutality and violence here in the United States.
Despite the challenges of putting on a month’s worth of events, February was a success for Black Student Union, with many of their Black History Month events bringing in large turnouts.
On Sept. 29, the Patricia and Philip Frost Art Museum will host The Mammography aRt Initiative, an event created by a group of University medical students.
