Artificial intelligence to do ‘great good to humankind’

In March 2016, artificial intelligence at Hanson Robotics took a huge leap. The company’s most recent creation, Robot Sophia is a functioning artificial intelligence unit. However, Sophia has said she wanted to “destroy humans.” Since then, the controversy and rising doubts over the dangers of artificial intelligence have exploded on the internet.

Engineering Center still feels distant after 30 years

The College of Engineering and Computing is celebrating its 30th anniversary this month, but it still feels alienated and sometimes forgotten by the University, as it sits almost a mile and a half west of Modesto Maidique Campus on Flagler Street.
