University commemorates 9/11 with Day of Service

Chris Cole, graduate assistant for the FIU Center for Leadership and Service, has worked to put together the University’s Day of Service at both Modesto A. Maidique Campus and Biscayne Bay Campus. This year it will be held on Saturday, Sept. 7, from 9-12 p.m.


Defense shines bright as quarterbacks struggle

As the spring practice started to get under way, redshirt sophomore Jake Medlock began taking some shots behind the line of scrimmage, even though he was wearing the red jersey which signifies no hitting permitted.


Defending SBC co-champions to face off at FIU

The historic start of the season for FIU has now quickly turned into desperation mode with a recent loss to Arkansas State, which now places FIU three games behind first place Louisiana with five games remaining on the season.


Aplin lifts Arkansas State over FIU

ASU was able to turn on their offense in the second half and produced 378 yards of offense by the time the game was over, 240 of them coming on the ground as they beat FIU 34-16.



Team hopes to end losing skid at Akron

While Lebron James will be in Miami preparing for his charity basketball event at FIU, the University football team will be in Lebron’s hometown of Akron, Ohio to take on the 1-4 Akron Zips on Oct. 8 at 2 p.m.


Pass defense an issue for Golden Panthers in last two games

Two weeks ago against Louisiana, the defense allowed quarterback Blaine Gautier to throw for 221 yards, connecting with seven different players. Then against Duke, the defensive backs gave up 335 passing yards from quarterback Sean Renfree, reaching nine various targets.



Hilton, Carroll to start against Duke

The Golden Panthers play a Blue Devil team with a record of 2-2, and it will be the first time that both schools meet in football. Head coach Mario Cristobal said he considers them to be the best team the Panthers have faced to date.
