As part of a grant from student tech fees, FIU’s Glenn Hubert Library installed an EnergyPod by Metronaps in October 2017. After noticing impromptu naps in the library, they wanted to develop a space to rest comfortably and efficiently with a little help from technology.
The Glenn Hubert Library will officially welcome the Academic Skills and Knowledge Center on Thursday, Oct. 30, located on the second floor.
Banned Books Week returns to the Glenn Hubert Library, where a live reading will be held on Thursday, Sept. 25 to honor classic novels that have been challenged and deemed obscene by public school systems and society.
Students will have to hold off on purchasing Starbucks coffee on campus until construction in the Glenn Hubert Library is completed mid-semester.
Construction of the Academic Skills and Knowledge Center in the Glenn Hubert Library at Biscayne Bay Campus is just two months from completion.
In the two weeks prior to summer term, some dining options will remain closed at both campuses. However, some food options, as well as businesses and the library, will remain open with reduced hours of operation.
Additional parking spaces will be available at BBC by this summer to replace the spaces lost to construction in Lot 1 near the Glenn Hubert Library.
The lot will be located in the field east of Academic Two and will provide 200 spaces containing metered, administrative and student parking.
Presentations of furniture samples for the upcoming Academic Skills and Knowledge Center begin this Wednesday, Feb. 5 at BBC.
