Patriotism has long been a part of the curriculum in America. It is the reason why every morning, students across the nation place their right hand over their heart, look at the ubiquitous American flag hanging in every classroom and pledge their life to this nation. Although there are students that stay silent due to religious reasons, there is one student that is holding out on making this pledge until the words actually ring true.
