The Florida International University women’s volleyball team (15-13) ended its season on Friday, Nov. 20, losing to the University of Texas at San Antonio Roadrunners in the first round of the Conference USA Tournament in San Antonio, Texas.
The Panthers are set to face off against the University of Texas at San Antonio Roadrunners, who enter as the second seed. The tournament will take place in San Antonio and begins on Friday, Nov. 20, at 12 p.m.
The team responded with a dominant effort, defeating LA Tech in straight sets.
As good as Florida International University has been at home, the Roadrunners were too much to handle. The Panthers fell in four sets.
Winning at home and losing on the road has been a common theme for the women’s volleyball team throughout the season. In order for the Panthers to climb in the Conference USA standings, they would have to improve on their 1-3 conference record away from home.
The team will travel to Hattiesburg, Miss., to face off against the University of Southern Mississippi on Friday, Oct. 16, at 7 p.m.
Even though the games were close and the Panthers hung around with the Eagles, the hitting miscues prevented the team from finishing the plays.
Losing four of their last five games, the Panthers needed to use the home crowd to their advantage. They did exactly that, beating Marshall 3-1.
The Panthers traveled to Rice University on Friday, Sept. 25 and Western Kentucky University on Sunday, Sept. 27, looking to improve on their 8-4 (2-0 C-USA) record.
