Professor discovers gene in coral reef that may save other species

Biology professor Mauricio Rodriguez-Lanetty discovered a set of genes in some coral reefs that produce a productive protein which may be possible to activate in other species of coral as well to help them acclimatize.

Professor helps uncover a specimen from the deep sea

The sea is deep and so are its mysteries; one of these mysteries, however, has been recently solved. A team, led by Assistant Professor Heather Bracken-Grissom of the Department of Biological Sciences, has recently discovered the connection between a strange larval crustacean and its adult form, a deep-sea shrimp.
