Volero is looking forward to work under Turner in the 2016 season and enjoys living in Miami. “I’m excited and delighted to be part of the Panther family in a great city like the city of Miami, where there is no better football in the world,” Volero said.
Where do the Panthers go from here? Well there are some positives and negatives sides as they begin their off-season.
After getting embarrassed by Marshall University 52-0 just a week prior, the Panthers’ loss margin actually increased against WKU. FIU (5-7, 3-5) got demolished by the Hilltoppers (9-2, 7-0) in a 63-7 blowout.
It’s bad enough that FIU didn’t score any points, but that doesn’t even tell the whole story of just how inefficient the offense was.
The senior had a career high seven tackles, four sacks and five tackles for loss. Adding with a 48-31 victory, Wakefield tied a school record for most sacks and tackle for loss in a game.
Prior to this weekend, they were an improving team looking to be above .500 with what many thought was a realistic shot to compete in Conference USA.
Junior safety Wilkerson Myrtil took a huge collision with a North Carolina Central player on a bubble screen play. Myrtil was on the ground without any sudden movements for the first five minutes before regaining his limbs.
The Panthers would be making a big statement if they defeat a well respected team like UCF, who finished 9-4 last season.
FIU fans should have every right to be excited for this coming season as eight players were selected to Pre- Season All Conference.
