Injuries, penalties, and special team mishaps overruled any benefit mother nature and a stifling Panther’s defense provided to FIU in a game that ended 28-21 in favor of the Louisville Cardinals.
While the Panthers went to Orlando feeling like they were going to leave with the matchup in their favor 2-0, they were sent back home with their tail between their legs in a 33-20 loss to the Knights.
FIU showed resilience to pull out a victory in overtime in the Sept. 8 Akron game that most people predicted the Panthers would easily win.
For the most part, the Panthers were kept in the game by their offensive performance that had to compensate for the 38 Akron points allowed on the defensive side of the ball.
