The secondary is often referred to as a security blanket. Heck, even one of the positions is called a “safety”. When FIU played Duke last year, somebody took the safety off and let the Blue Devils run free.
After a season that finished in such misery and despair in late December, there was a shining light at the beginning of Spring: a fresh start. For head coach Mario Cristobal, he knows that many players have been waiting to get their shot.
This upcoming season, the FIU football team will see many familiar faces as well as some that nobody has seen before. In preparation for the season, the 2012 schedule has been released and it goes as follows:
Head Coach Isiah Thomas has reiterated that he believes in running his offense through the forwards and centers. “We’ve gone out and recruited size,” Thomas said. “Even though our size are freshman and sophomores, we still want to play inside-out.”
One of his big men who has made an impact since entering the program has been sophomore Dominique Ferguson. At 6-foot-9, Ferguson possesses the ideal size, strength and quickness as a forward.
Joel Delgado takes a look at how the Golden Panther’s undefeated start has provided a better impression of the team.
