The morning after a loss against University of Central Florida, Ron Turner was fired by executive director of Sports and Entertainment, Pete Garcia.
Head Coach Ron Turner, going into his fourth year, and his coaching staff has to figure out who’s going to replace their long time starters on defense.
After finishing 5-7 last season and being one game short of bowl eligibility, FIU will come to this season with a lot of questions about the returning players going into spring practice.
“I’m excited about Kirk joining our staff as the special team’s coordinator, he brings a lot of experience to the table,” said Turner.
“I am very pleased with this year’s class,” said Turner. “I think it’s got a lot of versatility and a lot of good athletes.”

Volero is looking forward to work under Turner in the 2016 season and enjoys living in Miami. “I’m excited and delighted to be part of the Panther family in a great city like the city of Miami, where there is no better football in the world,” Volero said.
It’s going to be a busy day for FIU head coach Ron Turner. Right now FIU’s football team currently has 22 verbal commits in the recruiting class of 2016 and four players have already enrolled this semester.
“We’re thrilled that both Luis and Jeremiah have this opportunity to take part in this event,” Head Coach Ron Turner said. “Both have been important to this program and it’s great that they have another chance to showcase their skills.”
