After getting embarrassed by Marshall University 52-0 just a week prior, the Panthers’ loss margin actually increased against WKU. FIU (5-7, 3-5) got demolished by the Hilltoppers (9-2, 7-0) in a 63-7 blowout.
For the Panthers, this is their final chance at making a bowl game. If the Panthers can use that extra motivation to fuel their play against WKU, an upset is very possible.
It’s bad enough that FIU didn’t score any points, but that doesn’t even tell the whole story of just how inefficient the offense was.
The senior had a career high seven tackles, four sacks and five tackles for loss. Adding with a 48-31 victory, Wakefield tied a school record for most sacks and tackle for loss in a game.

FIU (4-4, 2-2) will look to maintain possession of the Shula Bowl against the struggling FAU Owls (1-6, 1-3).
The Panther’s win during homecoming week against Old Dominion University on Saturday, Oct. 24 was a night to remember. The Panthers outplayed the Monarchs resulting to a 41-12 victory.
