SGC-MMC Senate passed a bill this week that will create three weekly office hours for senators to meet with students starting fall 2014.
The senate speaker said he is looking to pass more resolutions and bills that will benefit the student body compared to past legislation.
The FIU Panthers dropped their 3rd straight home loss this Friday in the hands of the No. 49 Brown University Bears, losing 6-1, sinking to a 5-13 overall record for the 2012 season.
Fresh off a 5-2 victory over Sun Belt foe and rival, Florida Atlantic University, FIU (5-12) will look to keep up their winning ways against Ivy League standout, Brown University. The Bears strolls into South Florida and will do to battle against the Panthers on March 30 at the FIU Panther Tennis Center. The match time is slated for 1pm.
The two years of dominance in the Sun Belt Conference has come to a halt – at least for now.
In an attempt to initiate their Sun Belt Conference matches on a high note, FIU returned home with a 4-3 victory versus the Jaguars of South Alabama but faltered against the North Texas Mean Green in a 4-3 defeat.
Despite a shaky start to the 2012 season with losses to ranked opponents, head coach Melissa Applebaum-Dall’au and the rest of the tennis squad (1-7) look to salvage the season this weekend as they begin conference play in Denton, Texas.
FIU will be taking on the South Alabama Jaguars on Feb. 25, nearly a month after FIU earned their first victory of the year against Fresno State. Then they will face the host, North Texas on Feb. 26. The Mean Green are ranked 61st in the nation, ahead of the Panthers who are currently ranked 74th.
The weekend didn’t go quite as well as coach Melissa Applebaum-Dall’au and her team would have liked it. At the Lady Raider Shootout in Lubbock, Texas, the Panthers fell to 1-9 on the season after getting swept 0-3 in the three day tournament.
