Construction of new courts marks new era for sand volleyball

It was not long ago that FIU added women’s Sand Volleyball as part of Division I. In January of this year, sand volleyball was introduced to FIU and it was announced that it would become a sport for the school in spring 2013.

Sand Volleyball to begin in 2013, new courts to be built

Coinciding with Tomic’s departure was the announcement of women’s sand volleyball being added to FIU. The program is set to begin competition in spring 2013 at NCAA Division I level. According to the American Volleyball Coaches Association, there are currently 17 programs of sand volleyball in the nation. FAU and FSU already have established programs.

University to add sand volleyball as a sport in 2013

The University is making some moves to their current sports program, along with a new face to an already established sport.
