The FIU cross-country team is off and running.
The cross-country team started off the new campaign with a trip to Fort Myers, Fla. to participate in the Florida Gulf Coast University Invitational on Aug. 31.
With a score of 177 points, the men’s team finished in seventh place in the eight kilometer run. The Golden Panthers’ women’s team also finished in seventh place in the five kilometer run with 182 points in the University of South Florida Invitational in Tampa.
Aided with an individual first place finish by Daniela Espino in the five-mile run, the Golden Panthers women’s cross country team finished in third place at the Florida Gulf Coast University Invitational in Fort Myers on Sept. 2. The Golden Panthers’ men’s team finished in third place in the four mile run portion of the invitational. Joshua Estrada led the Golden Panthers individually with a fourth place finish.
The Golden Panthers men’s and women’s cross country teams begin their season on Sept. 2 in Fort Myers as they will participate in the Florida Gulf Coast University Invitational. It will be the Golden Panthers first time participating in the invitational.
