With three seasons in the books as the head coach of the men’s basketball program, Isiah Thomas is beginning to see a shift in the way that the FIU basketball program is viewed by potential recruits.
Head Coach Isiah Thomas has reiterated that he believes in running his offense through the forwards and centers. “We’ve gone out and recruited size,” Thomas said. “Even though our size are freshman and sophomores, we still want to play inside-out.”
One of his big men who has made an impact since entering the program has been sophomore Dominique Ferguson. At 6-foot-9, Ferguson possesses the ideal size, strength and quickness as a forward.
After waiting a week to reflect and learn from a gut-wrenching two-point loss to Florida Atlantic, the Panthers will return to the hardwood on Jan. 28 to face-off against East Divisional rival Western Kentucky at home.
On Jan. 12, FIU (4-11, 1-2 SBC) will get their second opportunity against the Sun Belt Conference’s best team; this time at U.S. Century Bank Arena.
