“Moonrise Kingdom” captures the essence of childhood romance

Wes Anderson’s films have always walked the thin line between realism and fantasy. Some, like “The Royal Tenenbaums” and “The Darjeeling Limited,” feel grounded the reality of life, taking its sweet time to focus on dysfunctional familial relationships through dark humor. Others, like the animated “Fantastic Mr. Fox,” seem straight out of a children’s pop-up book, immersed in fantastical situations that could never be real.
