Bjelica breaks bone in hand, out 4-6 weeks

Minutes before FIU began their 2012 season against the No. 18 Florida Gators, the Panthers learned devastating news: FIU’s star hitter, Jovana Bjelica, suffered a broken bone in her right hand. The All Sun Belt hitter will be out for 4-6 weeks.

Faltering offense leads to three losses in Boca Raton

The Panthers dropped three games out of four over the weekend in Boca Raton. The team combined to score seven runs in four games during the Strike Out Cancer Tournament, also known as the FAU Invitational.
FIU finished the FAU Invitational 1-3 and left with an even .500 record of 7-7.

Win streak extended to three with sweep over FAMU

FIU (6-3, 0-0 SBC) defeated Florida A&M (0-8, 0-0 MEAC) for its third-straight win in three-straight sets (25-10, 25-23, 26-24) on the heels of junior Jovana Bjelica’s fourth double-double of the season and redshirt freshman Renele Forde’s newfound defense. Forde recorded the first double-double of her career, notching 20 assists and 10 digs.
